I recently had a bike fit with Denver and the whole process was excellent - it was extremely informative, his approach was methodical and detailed and his observations and his rationale for the changes made to my set-up were well explained and in every case linked back to the issues I’d been experiencing.

At no point did I feel rushed or pressured into making any decisions and I very much felt listened to throughout.

Having tested out the adjusted bike position and the changes Denver made to my shoes, the amount of additional stability in my feet was immediately noticeable, as was how planted I feel on the bike overall and the additional control I now have throughout the pedal stroke.

Highly recommended.

— James
I had been meaning to book a bike fit for ages and having finally managed to sort that out, I only wish I had done it sooner. The logic behind the process was very easy to follow and amazingly, within about 15 minutes of the session it had been identified that most of my problems stemmed from the foot area.

At the start of the session, riding on the jig was painful and mirrored the feel of riding on my existing bike but by the end of the session, they had proved comfortable riding could be achieved.

In bad news, I need to buy a new bike with a more suitable frame type and then I'll also need to change the handlebars, cranks, pedals etc to achieve perfection. In good news, I now get to buy a new bike!

Overall, a great experience.

I had a brilliant bike fit with Andy at Bicycle Richmond. He was professional, knowledgeable and really took the time to explain everything clearly. He helped me find the perfect fit for my bike and showed me how to apply the same setup to my other road bike too.

The difference was immediate – much more comfort, smoother pedalling and better posture on longer rides. I’d highly recommend Andy and Bicycle Richmond to anyone looking for a proper, personalised bike fit.

Had an amazing experience for my first ever bike fit with Dan - he's extremely knowledgeable and friendly, making me feel at ease despite being a bit nervous beforehand! He asked loads of questions to ensure I was comfortable and explained the process of what he was doing which was super helpful. At the end, he was able to use the data from the bikefit to recommend the most appropriate bike which again I really appreciated as this is why I wanted the fit in the first place! He answered all my questions addressed my cycling issues/problems with ease. Would highly recommend!!!!!

I had a bike fit with George - I could not recommend him or the bicycle team enough.

I’m new to road cycling and wanted advice on the best bike for my needs. George was so knowledgeable (he is an ex pro triathlete) and walked me through everything. The whole experience was very high end and was super thorough but he also made me feel totally at ease and comfortable. The perfect place for any cyclist from expert riders to beginners.

I will definitely be back for further adjustments to my bike and know with their help I’ll love cycling and be injury free!

The benefits of a Bike Fit

Injury prevention

A professional bike fit ensures your body is properly aligned. By addressing posture and pedal mechanics, you can prevent common cycling injuries before they start.

Performance gain

Optimising your bike fit translates into more efficient power transfer and smoother pedaling. Small adjustments to saddle height, reach, and cleat positioning can make a big difference.

Comfort

A comfortable ride starts with the right bike fit. Proper adjustment eliminates pressure points, reduces numbness, and allows you to enjoy longer rides without fatigue.

Avoid costly mistakes

Investing in a professional bike fit can save you money in the long run. Avoid buying the wrong bike or components unnecessarily.

What to expect during your Bike Fit

bicycle. London’s destination for professional bike fitting, featuring an expert consultation at our Richmond store to tailor each session to the rider’s injury history and performance goals.

Interview

The interview is the “meet and greet” of your bike fit session. Enjoy a coffee or soft drink on us while we discuss your injury history, current discomforts, physical limitations, and goals for the session. This helps us tailor the bike fit session to your needs.

bicycle. London’s leading bike fit studio performing a comprehensive physical assessment on a cyclist as part of our bike fitting process at our Richmond store, ensuring a tailored setup for comfort and performance.

Physical Assessment

To understand how your body functions on the bike, we begin with a standing assessment to identify any musculoskeletal discrepancies between the upper and lower body. This includes analysing posture, foot stability, muscle balance, and asymmetries, alongside assessing mobility through the hips, glutes, hamstrings, and quadriceps. We also check for leg length differences and evaluate foot structure. These insights allow us to create a bike fit that works in harmony with your body, rather than forcing it into a position that limits comfort or performance.

Measure & record current setup

We take precise measurements from your bike to accurately replicate your current position on our bike fitting jig. This helps us understand your starting point and make informed adjustments during the bike fit.

Foot Assessment

The foot, shoe, and pedal interface is often the most overlooked—but also the most important—part of a bike fit. Your feet are the foundation of your power, and even small issues can affect your ride. We check your shoes for proper fit, assess cleat position, and add arch support or wedging where needed. Using the latest saddle pressure mapping technology, we’ve seen saddle pressure reduced by up to 50% simply by optimizing foot support.

bicycle. London’s destination for professional bike fitting, utilising advanced 4-sided video analysis at our Richmond store to provide a 360-degree view for precise biomechanical optimisation.

Video Analysis

We use the latest video analysis software and saddle pressure mapping to capture your riding from four angles—front, back, left, and right. This 360° view allows us to assess your position in detail and identify any areas for improvement with precision.

Saddle Pressure Mapping

We use Gebiomized saddle pressure mapping technology to measure how your weight is distributed on the saddle. This helps identify pressure points, optimize saddle choice and position, and improve overall comfort. With access to a library of over 200 test saddles, we can ensure you find the perfect match for your body.

bicycle. London’s destination for professional bike fitting at our Richmond store, performing precise positional optimisation on a Purely Custom jig to achieve peak performance, comfort, and biomechanical efficiency.

Positional optimisation

We make precise adjustments to your bike position, including saddle height and setback, handlebar reach and drop. We also assess handlebar width, crank length, and saddle choice to ensure a stable, comfortable, and well-balanced ride.

bicycle. London’s destination for professional bike fitting at our Richmond store, finalising the session by applying precise adjustments to the rider's bike and offering expert advice on future builds and setups.

Bike setup

The final part of your session is transferring the adjustments from the fitting jig to your bike. If you’re considering a new bike, we can provide recommendations based on your results. We remain brand-agnostic and can fit any make or style of bike. If issues persist after your bike fit, we’ll provide follow-up adjustments free of charge—provided your optimum position can be replicated and all necessary changes are made.

Bike Fit report

After your bike fit session, you’ll receive a detailed bike fit report via email, including notes and measurements taken during your fitting. This provides a clear reference of your setup and any adjustments made.

Purely Custom Bike Fitting Jig

Using our purely custom fitting jig we can replicate any bike position for accurate comparisons. The result is a bike fit tailored precisely to your body, not being limited by a single bike’s geometry.

4 sided video analysis & saddle pressure mapping

Advanced 4-sided video analysis and saddle pressure mapping reveal how your body interacts with the bike, allowing us to fine-tune your bike fit for comfort, power, and injury prevention.

"Big thanks for the work, was thinking about you today in the race...I feel so much better on my bike."

- Tao

Visited bicycle for my first bike fit in 17 years, and can thoroughly recommend this place. The team are friendly and welcoming, and Denver took his time, listened to and worked with me throughout and made the whole session interesting, as well as being extremely thorough at every stage of the process.
Having struggled with sciatica over the past year, the end result was a position that felt noticeably more stable and efficient than my previous setup, looking forward to putting it into effect over the coming months.
— Chris
I had a fantastic bike fit session with Dan. He took great care and attention to assess my mobility and previous bike setup, using his experience to tweak the position and relieve the discomfort in my back. It appears to come in a package with better power output/efficiency, so a win-win situation.

Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend it.
— PD
My recent bike fit was excellent. It was very personalised and based on a physical assessment and an understanding of my very modest goals. Andy was incredibly patient in trying out various adjustments and improvements with the result that I left with a set up that would work for me. The session exceeded my expectations and my ride has definitely become more comfortable.

FAQs

Pricing

How much does a bike fit cost?

From £400.

Availability and pricing can be viewed here.

Why is there a price difference between the bike fitters?

James is the buisness owner and is the fitter with the most experience, therefore the pricing reflects this.

All our fitters work to the same process and your results from a session with any one of our fitters will be equal.

Do you offer a cheaper/more streamlined Bike Fit service?

No.

We believe nothing related to bike fit should be looked at in isolation, as focusing on one particular area e.g. the saddle, will have an effect elsewhere. Your bike set up should only be looked at as a whole.

What do I need?

What do I need to bring with me to the session?

Cycling kit (this must include lycra shorts and a close fitting base layer or summer road jersey)

Existing shoes (if you do not already have cycling shoes please wait until your bike fit, as we will assess your feet and recommend you the most suitable pair of cycling shoes).

Spare cycling kit if you plan to cycle here (shorts, socks, jersey)

Your existing bicycle (if the fit is for a new bike not yet purchased we still recommend bringing your existing bike)

Do I need a bike to have a bike fit?

No.

If you do not currently own a bike, or are looking for a different style of bike it would be best to wait until after your bike fit to make an informed purchase.

The bike fit session will be carried out on our bike fitting jig and therefore finding your optimal position first and then basing your purchase on the most suitable bike and model to match these numbers would be our recommended process.

How long does a bike fit last?

3 hours.

We allocate 3 hours for a Bike Fit session. We sometimes achieve the desired result in less time than this, occasionally we may run over when multiple changes are made to more complex bikes.

What's included?

Do you adjust my existing bike during the session?

Yes.

Typically enough time is allocated at the end of the session to make minor adjustments to your bike.

If your bike requires proprietary/3rd party parts that we do not stock and that need to be purchased directly from the manufacturer, or on more complex bikes (the majority of TT / Triathlon) a suitable workshop booking will need to be made where the bike will need to be left with us.

Only 1 bike can be adjusted during the session. For additional bikes a bike set to fit data service is required.

Do I need to book a new bike consultation as well as a bike fit?

A new bike consultation requires you to have existing bike fit data for us to recommend from. The bike fit data can be either from us or elsewhere.

If you do not have existing bike fit data to work from then our full bike fit would be required first.

After your bike fit session if you would like to discuss suitable bike options in even more detail or start a custom build project, a new bike consultation can then be booked.

Do I need to book two bike fit sessions for two different types of bikes?

Different styles require different fits, however bikes that share the same handlebars may only require a subsequent follow up session.

For Example:

Road bike + TT bike = 2 bike fits

Road Bike + MTB = 2 Bike fit

Road bike + Gravel bike = 1 bike fit and a follow up session.

The follow up session can be booked for the same day (availability allowing) as your full bike fit session or at a suitable later date.

If you have 2 bikes of the same discipline (Road +Road) then just our bike set to fit data service is needed to be booked for after your bike fit session.

For those of you traveling from far, only a morning bike fit time slot will allow for a bike set to fit data to be booked for after your session.

Is a shoe fit included in the bike fit?

Yes.

Your feet will be measured and assessed as part of the bike fit and therefore a seperate shoe fit is not required.

The only scenario you may wish for a seperate shoe fit before your bike fit session is if you desire a heat moldable shoe e.g. CX403 as fitting these correctly can take a reasonable amount of time.

Obviously heat moldable shoes will only be reccomended for the appropriate foot types.

Will you send me my bike measurements after the session?

Yes.

You will recieve our full bike fit report via email after your session.

This will include your exisiting bike measurements (if you have an existing bike) and the numbers for your optimal set up.

This report can be used for setting up other bikes you may have - either by yourself or through our bike set to fit data service.

The report can be sent across to bike rental/holiday companies for them to best set up a bike based on your optimal numbers.

All the numbers needed for a frame builder to design a custom made to measure frame.

Any bike recomendations size/model/brands, necessary equipment changes discussed during the session will also be inlcuded.

Cancellation

What are your cancellation terms?

Prior to 14 days before the service – you are welcome to cancel your appointment and receive a full refund of the booking fee.

Between 7 to 14 days prior – your appointment may be rescheduled to any date available, but no refunds will be issued.

Within 7 days of your booking – your full deposit will be retained by Bicycle.

What are your rescheduling limits?

We will allow the appointment to be rescheduled a maximum of 2 times outside 14 days before a final date must be selected.

Should the appointment be rescheduled within 7 to 14 days prior to your appointment we will allow for 1 change of date, the newly selected date will no longer qualify for a full refund and must go ahead.

Remote services

Do you offer "virtual" bike fit?

No.

Without being able to have you in the fit studio to observe your limitations through physical examination and also seeing you on the bike, any form of virtual consultation is unlikely to be as beneficial and therefore we do not offer a “virtual” bike fit service.

I am unable to get you in person, are you able to recommend a bike fitter near me?

No.

If you are unable to visit us for a fitting then unfortunately we do not give out any recommendations for other fitters, this is due to the fact we can not guarantee the experience or quality you will receive and would not want you to be misled by our recommendation. Our best advice is to speak to local clubs to see if riders there have had any good experiences, and check google reviews for fitters around your area to see what the reviews say.

Recommendations

Should I have a bike fit before an event?

We would suggest caution with this approach but it would be down to the clients discretion. If you are uncomfortable on the bike then it is probably worth it as many riders will benefit with the adjustments and have no issues, but in rare circumstances riders that are sensitive to change may have issues adapting to changes regardless if they are for the better. If you have been riding a position (good or bad) for a number of years you may take some time to adjust to change. Should any problems occur we will work with you to help resolve the issue but would not assume responsibility for missed events or time off the bike.
